Summer Solstice / Full Moon

After being shamed by a comment from my last post, I thought I should get back to writing here...

Yesterday marked the Summer Solstice, and also a Full Moon. I find it amazing that two things that mark the high points in the cycles should happen at the same time. Although I live within a city, I find it important to pay attention to the real, natural world all around us, and a day and night of such brightness and light, regardless of electricity, is truely something to make note of.

My partner and I have also began celebratin wiht a lovley newer friend of ours. She's my age, but "younger" in her Neo-Pagan practice, and I like being about to guide someone along as I try to re-learn the ways that I used to follow when I was younger -- it helps me keep the wonder and reverence in perspective, and makes me pay attention to the details, the "whys" and "hows" of ritual. We began small with a ceremony at Beltaine, and kept last night simple too. Simple, but effective.

One of the things I am praying for in these rituals is a stronger courage to be creative. I feel good about this, but need to give it time.

As the time approaches Samhain/Halloween/All Souls', I find myself really wanting to "do more" for the day, but am torn over the 'hows'. A part of me would love to go out to a big party or a club all costumed, but in that situation I feel somehow irreverent and un-spiritual. On the otherhand, I am not the type that goes in for long complicated rituals with groups. I'd like to find a way to 'celebrate' the holliday rather than simply 'observe' it. *sigh* Hopefully I can figure out a way to be spiritual and creative and fun all together.

Greetings, gentle readers, and welcome to this journal. Here I hope to post icons, artwork, random musings, and other such things. We'll just have to see how that goes, though, as time passes. Let's hope for the best!
